The Minnesota 5050 Futurity is run under NSBA Rules unless the Minnesota 5050 Futurity and Rules read otherwise.

Summary: 
GOALS OF THE BREEDERS ORGANIZATION

Purpose – To train and treat all horses in a humane manner, protecting at all times, their physical and mental well being.

  1. To promote a good moving, well broke individual ,whose conformation is correct and sound, and with eye appeal. HORSES THAT RIDE, WORK, AND LOOK GOOD DOING IT
  2. To promote a variety of breeds, through their participation in the Futurity and Sale.
  3. Provide an event that is beneficial to the Minnesota Horse Industry.


SUMMARY- To promote kinder, gentler training methods, resulting in a more efficient horse. To establish a greater market for good riding horses  horses that have soft mouths, respond to a light rein and have a comfortable head carriage.

All weanlings and yearlings selling in the Minnesota 5050 sale will be eligible to compete in the Minnesota 50/50 Futurity at 2 years of age.

Any weanling or yearling selling in the Minnesota 5050 auction will be assessed the following payout based on teh number of foals offered on the sale that particular year.

20 foals 50/50 payout,30 foals 60/40 payout, 40+ foals 70/30 payout.

5% of the selling price goes to the Member/Consignor Awards .5% of the selling price goes to Operating expenses.


GHOST SLOT EXPLAINATION
The winning bid of the Ghost Slot foal may be asked to pull hair for DNA verification. The foal must be registered in the name of the person bidding on the Ghost Slot. The foal's registration must be in the hand of the bidder, or received by a member of the Board Of Directors prior to the sale ,if bidding by phone. The foal must be registered in the name of the bidder. Winner of the Ghost Slot will be announced. The eligibility of the foal will stay with the foal, regardless of the future sale of the horse. 20% of the Ghost Bid will be retained to the General Fund. The starting bid will be $1500.


FUTURITY EXPLANATION
The Minnesota 50/50 Futurity is designed to promote quality horses. There will be one event consisting of three (3) equal parts or divisions in which points are totaled to achieve a winner.

1. CONFORMATION DIVISION

Emphasis is to be placed on an individual that is conformationally correct and sound on all feet and legs. That is smooth individual whose parts all blend together with eye appeal and the appearance of an athletic individual.
    

2. RAIL DIVISION

Designed to show a free and easy moving individual that is relaxed, ears are alert, looks balanced and its way of going forward is bright, as well as responsive to rider at various gaits. When asked to extend the jog or  lope, it moves out with a natural way of going. Rail work consists of the walk, jog, and lope with the extension of the jog and lope possible, both directions in the ring. Horses should be shown on a loose rein or light contact without undue restraint. Judging will be based on the horse's overall performance and way of going, as well as its ability to hold the designated gait and correct leads.
    

3. TRAIL DIVISION

This class will be judged on the performance of the horse over obstacles, with the emphasis on manners, response to the exhibitor and attitude. NSBA RULES APPLY UNLESS THE MINNNESOTA 5050 RULES READ OTHERWISE.


GENERAL RULES

The same exhibitor must exhibit or compete in all divisions. One horse and one exhibitor. Once the horse has entered the show ring for a class, it qualifies as competing in that class. It remains eligible for the overall award, even if the horse is DQ'D or excused by the judges.

ALL horses purchased from a CURRENT MEMBER of the Minnesota 5050 will be allowed to compete in the YEARLING AND MATURITY JACKPOT CLASSES. A horse may show in the Maturity classes for as many years as they wish. 

All horses are to be shown in a standard headstall.

All horses are to be shown in Western Equipment and Attire.

All horses are to be shown in a bosal or snaffle bit that meets NSBA rules. 5/16th" bit measurement with a ring size of not less than 2" and not more than 4". Maturity horses 5 and under have the option to use a bosal, snaffle or curb bit. Maturity horses ,6 and up are required to be shown in a curb bit.

All equipment will be checked by the equipment judge.

Horses with illegal or inhumane equipment in the show arena will be eliminated from competition.

Yearlings MAY be shown in halter with a chain. Chains are NOT allowed in Longeline or In Hand Trail in order to be consistent with other breed organizations.

Training devises ARE allowed during warm up, other than in the warmup in the arena immediately before the class starts.

Youth, 18 & under, by January 1st of the calendar year, shall NOT be permitted to show a stallion in ANY CLASS offered by the Minnesota 5050 Futurity And Sale( Effective 1/29/22)

A leather ONLY chin strap is required when using a snaffle bit and must be positioned with the reins above the chin strap.

A 30–45-minute break will be taken following the completion of the show to Tabulate Overall Winners.

A 10 Minute warm up will be given to each group of yearling longe liners.

Lame or DQ'd horses will share last place rankings.


NSF POLICY

All NSF checks and fees must be paid to the Minnesota 5050 before contestants will be allowed to enter the Minnesota 5050 Show or to purchase another foal.


EXHIBITORS

Exhibitors may be changed after the entry has been submitted as long as the Futurity(show) management is informed of the change. However, the horse must be shown in all divisions by the same exhibitor. An exhibitor must be 12 years of age by January 1st to show in ANY of the Minnesota 5050 classes.


OWNERSHIP

Should any horse change ownership after the Minnesota 5050 sale, but before the Futurity, that horse retains eligibility ,IF AND ONLY IF, the management has been notified by said horse's current owner. Registration papers(or signed transfer) should be presented for verification. All monies will be paid to the current owner of the entry.

PRIZE MONEY

Prize money will be paid down to placings, percentages and amounts that have been determined by the Minnesota 5050 membership on a yearly basis. A tie breaking judge will be drawn before the beginning of the competition in case of a tie. Other awards and incentives may be presented for individuals, divisions, or other basis.(Youth, Amateur, etc.) Funding for these awards will be from sponsorships and will not affect the cash prizes.


FEES AND GUARANTEES

Horses properly entered are considered paid up in the Futurity. All checks are made payable to the MINNESOTA 5050 FUTURITY AND SALE.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Members of the Minnesota 5050 are expected to provide ethical, responsible and positive contributions that promote the greater good of the Minnesota 5050 Futurity and Sale. Members are expected to not undermine the public's confidence in the Minnesota 5050 in such ways as: verbal, social media, public media and social networking. Members not adhering to this code of conduct may have their membership revoked with a majority vote at a meeting of the membership.


MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO:

1. Reject any entry not believed to match a sale entry.

2. Inspect all horses and match the registration papers on file from the sale.

3. Decide any point not covered by the rules to correct any error or make any necessary alterations as it sees fit.

4. Change the date and location of the Minnesota 5050 Futurity and Sale.

5. Test any entry for illegal or controlled substances according to NSBA rules. 

6. Continue the show with one judge due to unforeseen circumstances.

ONCE A HORSE ARRIVES ON THE GROUNDS OF THE SHOW, THEY MAY NOT LEAVE UNTIL THE SHOW IS OVE.(EXCEPTIONS:VET VISITS)
